Bright Bell Enigma Albinos (New for 2010!) |
Brady - our male Bright Bell Enigma |
 |
 |
Description and History: The Bright Bell Enigma Albinos are simply the result of crossing our best Bright Line Bell Albinos with our Tangerine Bell Enigma Albinos. Please see the above description and history section for the background on the "Bright Line Bell Albinos". Over two generations we've seen a distinct look developing with the Bright Bell Enigmas that we're excited about. The Enigma trait has certainly worked to intensify the traits of the Bright Bells - creating attractive aberrant patterns and head markings with some of the most intense colors we've seen.
Characteristics: Our Bright Bell Enigima Albinos are characterized by intensely colored head patterns and markings, along with a visible dorsal stripe. The Enigma trait not only intensifies the color but also provides some unique aberrant marking not found on our Non-Enigma Bright Bells.
Project Direction: Since this is a fairly new project for us, we're just doing a few pairings to see if the traits continue to breed true. We're breeding for strong body and head color, as well as distinct dorsal striping. We won't be out-crossing this project until 2011.

HISS "Hybino" Bell Albinos |
Ben - male HISS Hybino (owned by Kelli Hammack), sire of "Tokyo" |
Tokyo - hands down, the most amazing Bell Albino I've worked with to date! Thanks Kelli :) |
Another close up of Tokyo showing her "red eyeliner" and a little bit of her pink eyes |
Description and History: We first began working with a few of Kelli Hammack's (HISSS.net) Bell Hybinos (Super Hypo Tangerine Bell Albinos) several years ago. We've always been impressed with Kelli's cutting-edge work with the Bell Albinos...but this season she produced an absolutely stunning gecko that we were pleased to bring into our collection as a cornerstone gecko (middle picture above - "Tokyo"). Tokyo as we call her, has about 85% carrot tail, but just as impressive is the fact that her body color just about matches her tail color! I had initially thought to cross her to the Bright Bells, but Kelli and I both agree that this girl is too unique to cross into other projects at this point - so we're working jointly on this project to keep the genetics lined up the way we want. If all goes as planned we'll see several more geckos displaying the same traits as Tokyo...or even better.
Characteristics: HISS Hybinos are characterized by strong orange body color and a lack of body markings (super hypo). HISS Hybinos also possess a strong carrot tail trait that can be expressed in extreme amounts.
Project Direction: As stated above, we're line breeding just a few of geckos closely related to Tokyo to see how the genetics line up. We hope to produce several top notch HISS Hybinos in 2010. Kelli Hammack did all the hard work on this project ...we just get to enjoy it this season ;)

"Fire Bell" Enigma Albinos (New for 2010!) |
Stockton - our male "Fire Bell" |
Picture coming |
|
Description and History: The "Fire Bells" are a new project that we will be experimenting with in the 2010 season. We've hatched out a few extremely Tangerine Bell Albino Enigmas over the past two seasons (2008 & 2009). These geckos are so breath-taking in person...we just couldn't ignore the potential to develop them further. We're not sure if the traits will breed true but we're beginning the process in 2010. **Please note: The term "Fire Bell" is just our trade name for this project. We are not implying that this is a new morph...or any different from other extremely tangerine Bell Albino Enigmas that other breeders produce. We are simply working to selectively breed this trait in an attempt to distinguish our "line" from other lines of Tangerine Bell Albino Enigmas.**
Characteristics: The Tangerine Bell Albino Enigmas that we're putting into our "Fire Bell" project are the most intensely color geckos we work with. Their colors range from orange, to deep orange, to almost red in appearance. Usually the most intense colors are displayed on the head.
Project Direction: Since this will be our first season focusing on the selective breeding of our "Fire Bells", we cannot specify a project direction. We should have a much better understanding of this projects' potential after the 2010 season. Obviously, intense color is our main focus in this project.

Radar Bell Albinos |
Levi - our male Radar Bell |
close up of Levi's eyes |
|
Description and History: We hatched our first Radar Bell Albino (Bell Albino Eclipse) in 2009. We're thrilled about the potential of this morph. Several top notch breeders have produced amazing Radar Bells, showing some of the possibilities this morph brings to the world of "Bell lovers". We'll be breeding our male, Levi, with a handful of females in the 2010 season as we begin to delve a step further with this morph.
Characteristics: Radar Bell Albinos possess the "eclipse eye" trait that was first displayed in the "RAPTORs". A few Radars have also displayed the classic patternless look of the RAPTORs, but most seem to have pattern. As with the eclipse trait, Radars often display white feet and "white-ish" noses.
Project Direction: We doing some exciting crosses this season. We hope to premier a few of these in 2011.

Redstripe Bell Albinos |
Sully - our male Redstripe Bell Albino |
Picture coming |
Picture coming |
Description and History: We've been working on Redstripe Bell Albinos for several years. This stunning morph combines the classic Redstripe traits with the strong markings of the Bell Albino to produce some truly beautiful geckos with deep orange and lavender contrasts. In 2009 we hatched out our best example yet and thankfully it turned out to be a male. He possess a full stripe from his neck to the tip of his tail (we don't see too many of those!) Each season we've seen the colors get a bit more intense...so this will be a project we'll keep around for a long time. We just can't wait to get those red "radar" eyes on them!
Characteristics: Beautiful lavender coloration surrounding a pronounced orange stripe. Many of our Redstripe Bells have intense shades of orange on their heads and tails. As with the Redstripe trait, the orange stripe is often bordered with a deeper shade of orange, making the lavender and orange contrast even more appealing.
Project Direction: This was one of our more popular projects in 2009. We're introducing some new genetics to the project this season and we believe it will pay off. The majority of the geckos we'll produce from this project in 2010 will be Redstripe het Bells, but we will also produce some nice Redstripe Bells.

Emerine Bell Albinos (New for 2010!) |
Gannon - our Emerine het Bell |
 |
|
Description and History: The Emerine Bell Albinos are a completely new project for us...and not one we planned for either. (Just kind of "in the right place, at the right time) The two main geckos we'll be using in this project are amazing...and we can't claim any credit for them! The Emerine het Bells pictured above were produced by Kelli Hammack (HISSS.net). These geckos are so breath-taking in person. We can't even begin to imagine what the Bell Albino version will look like! Well, actually we can imagine it...and hopefully we'll see some soon. Kelli should be the first to hatch this impressive morph...if she hasn't already ;)
Characteristics: To our knowledge, there hasn't been an Emerine Bell Albino hatched yet - only hets. The hets are characterized by deep red/orange markings on a greenish-yellow background. We can only hope the Emerine Bells will intensify these traits even more.
Project Direction: To be announced.

Lavender Bell Albinos |
 |
 |
 |
Description and History: Lavender Bell Albinos are a unique morph we've been working on for many years. Lavender Bells have a pronounced amount of lavender "background" coloration and greatly reduce yellow banding (thin bands), creating a very pale look overall. We've only bred Lavender Bells to Lavender Bells (except for the Ghost Lavenders below), so at this point we can only assume that the traits being expressed are a line bred combination, also known "polygenic" in herp terms. There are a few other things going on with the Lavender Bells that may be genetic, but we're working on understanding this all before sharing.

Ghost Lavender Bell Albinos |
Jacob - our male Ghost Lavender Bell Albino |
Casper - our female Ghost Lavender Bell Albino |
|
Description and History: Our Ghost Lavender Bell Albinos have turned out to be a fun project. We crossed the "old-school" hypo-ghost trait with out Lavender Bells in 2006 just to try for a different look..and what a unique look it created! The Ghost Lavenders posses a very ghost-like lemon yellow background color with soft lavender bands that "hypo out"...and slight bits of pattern. Our Ghost Lavender Bells are very consistent in pattern and look. We'll produce a very small number of select Ghost Lavender Bells in 2010.

Gem Snow Tremper Eclipse Albinos (& RAPTORs) |
Lawrence - our Gem Tremper Eclipse Albino (2 red eyes) and a funky "thin striped" pattern |
 |
 |
Description and History: One of our most successful Gem Snow crosses so far has been the Gem Snow RAPTORs & Eclipses. We first crossed our Gem Snows with Tremper Albinos in 2006 and then crossed the resulting Gem het Trempers together in 2007 to hatch out a very rare Gem Snow Tremper Albino. From there we crossed the Tremper Gem Snows into RAPTORs and Eclipses...and the resulting offspring have been stunning.

Electric "RAPTORs" (New for 2010!) |
Rocky - our Electric het RAPTOR male |
 |
|
Description and History: Electric RAPTORs are a new project for us. We've always wanted to work more with Electric Tangerine line geckos and when we became aware of the work Kelli Hammack (HISSS.net) had done to cross with the RAPTORs we thought it was a perfect fit. We also wanted to find a new approach to the RAPTORs...something that would perhaps add a new twist. We collected a top notch female from Kelli and found a great looking male from Lisa Sox (Lisasleos.com)

Description and History: Our Lavender Stripe Tremper Albinos are a newer project for us. We obtained a cool male Lavender Stripe het Tremper from the Jeffs (JMGreptiles.com) at the Daytona Show in 2007. We crossed that male with a few Striped Tremper Albinos in 2008 and hatched a nice male Lavender Striped Tremper that became the main breeder for us in 2009. Last year we produced a few nice Lavender Stripe Tremper Albinos. We also have a few unrelated geckos that we're excited about crossing this season. The male above (Otis) is a guy we've held onto for a few year just because he's so unique looking.

Dorsal Stripe Tangerines |
Torch - our male Dorsal Stripe, hopefully his tangerine and carrot-tail will carry over |
 |
 |
Description and History: We love the vibrant contrasts seen in the Dorsal Stripe Tangerines. Several years ago we collected a few outstanding examples of this morph from Albey of Albey's Too Cool Reptiles. We've been selectively line breeding this project each year since to achieve some amazing results. This is the trait we used to help start our line of Bright Bell Albinos and Bright Bell Albino Enigmas.
Characteristics: Dorsal Stripe Tangerines have intense deep-orange body color, usually divided by a lighter orange dorsal stripe. The result is a contrasting stripe and striking pattern variations. Another appealing characteristic of this morph is that they general keep their intense color into adulthood and through out breeding. The Dorsal Stripe Tangerine just don't dull much! It's great!

Torrid Tangerines & other tangerines |
Big Red - our Torrid Tangerine male (produced by Albey Too Cool Reptiles) |
- one of our best Tangerine females from 2009 |
- a beautiful female produced by Pat Kline of luxuriousleopards.com |
Description and History: While albinos are certainly our main passion, our Tangerines are a very close second! We've always loved the intense orange and reddish tones displayed by the highest-end Tangerines. Most of the geckos in our Tangerine group have been built from Albey's genetics, but we have crossed a few other line into our Tangerines over the years to "test the waters". We're hoping 2010 will be a great year for us with the Tangerines. In a last minute effort to improve our group, we added a stunning Torrid Tangerine male from Albey (pictured above as "Big Red") to top off our 2010 Tangerine breeding group. He a big, beautiful guy with tons of color and a fantastic personality!

Hammer - our main Dark-line male |

Description and History: In all honesty, our Dark projects are still in their beginning stages. We are working hard to understand the genetics involved in the geckos we collected over a 2 - 3 year span. We've seen some remarkable progress in only one season, though.
Characteristics: Dark...speckled...dark...bold...(you get the picture!) We're working with several random traits right now that may or may not be inheritable or "line breed-able". We'll be able to begin classifying traits and characteristics once we're a bit more sure of how some of these stunning traits work.

Halloween Masks |
 |
Cole - our tangerine Halloween Mask male |
 |
Description and History: The Halloween Masks ("HM" for short) are a bold patterned, aberrant morph. Albey Scholls (albeysreptiles.com) founded this project years ago when he aquired some very rare (at the time) jungle patterned leopard geckos from Ron Tremper. Albey succeded in line breeding these jungles for several traits, but the most unique seemed to be the bold head patterns (hence the name "Halloween Mask"). Some of the other traits often displayed are labyrinth patterns, heavy melanistic spotting (even on the toes, at times), shatter-like markings, lighter color (yellow) within the dark, bold markings, and extremely unpredictable patterning. Albey was kind enough to let us partner with him on this project in 2008. This is one of our favorite morphs and we're proud to be able to carry on the work Albey started.
Characteristics: The Halloween Masks are characterized by bold head patterns, usually displayed in the shape of a mask, and bold, aberrant body patterns. The bold markings on the body are displayed in unique "labyrinth" and shattered patterns, often with heavy blotches of gray and black. HMs go through a few stages of pattern development as they grow - lightening and darkening, until their final adult pigment sets in.
Project Direction: Instead of doing the numerous crosses we did last year, we're keeping the genetics pretty simple this year - mainly Halloween Mask x Halloween Mask. We're hoping to intensify the boldness and predictability of the dark patterns. We want to see the darkest, "heaviest" masks possible! We'll continue to work on the tangerine HMs, snow HMs, and enigma HMs as side projects to see if anything interesting develops.

Gem Snows |
Freely - our male Gem Snow |
Picture coming |
Comparison photo of a young Gem Snow and a RAPTOR |
Description and History: Gem Snows were discovered and named by Jim Holler. We purchased our first breeding stock directly from Jim in 2005 and have enjoyed working with them ever since. The Gems Snows are a striking white and black snow morph that seems to work as a dominant trait. Gem Snows, when bred to any other morph should statically produce 50% Gem Snows...in other words, you have a 1 in 2 chance of producing a Gem Snow. Two Gem Snows bred together will produce all Gem Snows...and while these Gem Snows are often a bit "whiter" in overall appearance, we do not believe this is a "super form". Oddly enough though, when Gem Snows are crossed to Mack Snows they do produce the Super Snow morph with solid black eyes (as normally seen when two Mack Snows are crossed). Don't ask me to explain this...I have no idea! In all our years of crossing Gem Snows together, we've never seen a "Super Snow" hatch from Gem x Gem pairs...only when combined with the Mack Snow trait. This same phenomenon has been seen with other lines of Snows (when crossed to Mack Snows).
Characteristics: Gem Snows, like most other snow morphs, hatch black and white. Adults often develop some lemon-yellow coloration, surrounded by white, which produces a stunning appearance. We've also seen the Gem Snow trait display itself in a very "ghost-like" manner, with lavender and almost silver highlights on a very washed-out cream and white colored background.
Project Direction: We are crossing Gem Snow x Gem Snow to keep a nice stock of "non-het" Gem Snows. Our Gem RAPTOR project will continue - the results have been great so far (see Gem RAPTOR section above). We should also produce some of the first Gem Snow Bells this season!

Australian Thick-Tail Geckos (N. Underwoodisaurus Milii) |
Milii hatchlings |
|
|
Description and History: We've had the joy of working with Australian Geckos for several years. In 2009 we had a really good season, successfully hatching out several different species of Knob Tail Geckos. But, in our quest to give more attention to each and every gecko, we've chosen to limit our work with the Australian Geckos this year to the N. Underwoodisaurus Milii species only. In our experience, the Miliis have the calmest disposition of the Australian Geckos and seem to tolerate handling well. They also do well with care similar to Leopard Geckos, making them ideal for our set up. They offer some very appealing colors...and irresistible faces! All in all, I'd call them the "leopard geckos" of the Australian Geckos.
